Why were you afraid to pick up the phone...Your job is find who will need your business or service . What are you afraid of and why do you hesitate to make the first call..is because someone will say no and reject you. 
Will someone turn you down , hang up to you and maybe rude to you ..hurt your
feelings inside..all of these are possible. But remember that person will never know what you offer unless you take the first step.
Make a plan with the call..what are the reasons for the call and mostly what are the benefits for the person to sign up with you.. That benefit is why the person will eventually maybe due business with you. Very odd this happens with the first phone call...Your job is ask to send more information, You are asking permission to send them an email ..to further explain about you and why you should do business together. But more ..Who you Are...Where You are from ..all those questions to be answered. Who What Where Why ..and how will connecting with your Company benefit mine..that is the bottom line.
